    Great Barrel.

I plan on using Value-Line barrels in my next builds. The barrel looks great and is accurate.

    I'm a Melonite believer!

Posted by Harold from Free America (Northern Nevada) on April 18, 2018

I've been building AR's for 30 years and this is my first Melonite barrel. I chronograph everything I shoot so for my first outing I used a bunch of old soviet krapola that I purchased in the mid 1990's. As expected, this steel ammo had a huge extreme velocity spread but my average was 2560 fps for this copper-washed/steel jacketed 123 gr. bullet. That's about 100 fps faster than I was expecting. I also brought along my nearly out-of-the-box Russian SKS made in 1953. When I got home I cleaned both guns thoroughly. There wasn't a speck of copper fouling from the new 7.62x39 barrel. Incredibly, this 16" barrel was a tad over 100 fps faster than my 20.5" SKS. On day two, I again took both rifles to the boonies to test one of my favorite handloads and to workup a new load with my new 7.62x39 melonite barrel. The same velocity disparity occurred such that my 16" 7.62 barrel was faster than my 20.5" SKS. I fired a lot of rounds with my 7.62x39 that day . . . with no copper fouling! It also cleaned up as fast as my chrome-lined SKS. Let's see . . . faster, cleaner, and (supposedly) more corrosion protection. I'm sold on Melonite!!! So much so that I'm buying more. This KAK barrel is a premium barrel regardless of the "Value Line" moniker.

    This Barrel is Awesome...

Posted by MikeTangoSix on April 13, 2018

I wanted to 30 caliber AR to hunt wild hogs did not want to go the .308 route because the cost of ammo so 7.62x39 was a option but all the nightmares i see other ppl had with this round out of the AR i was doubtful it would work i had a strippes upper and lower so i took the plunge and started the buikd after i got everything together i started researching barrels i was headed to purchase a Faxon barrel but rememberes that Kak Industries had barrelsl and i had purchased 2 barrels from them in the past so started looking and found them and got one from Kak Industries best decison i ever mase this barrel runs like a champ and i am getting 1.5 moa at 100 yards if you are thinking about getting this barrel dont hesitate i am building a 7.62x39 upper for my sbr and this is where i will be getting my barrel from They make Fantantic products and i will be a customer for life Mike Out...

    Excellent Barrel

Posted by Clinton on March 10, 2018

I bought the barrel and the BCG from KAK. I cleaned the barrel before installing, just a habit of mine with all new barrels. The fit with my upper receiver was super snug (good thing). I used a standard AR barrel nut and Delta ring. I took it out last night for a quick function test. I buzzed through a 10 round mag of Winchester white box, 7.62x39 brass case ammo. No failures to feed or function, bolt locked back on last round. It was very cold out so I didn't accuracy test yet but I was aiming at patch of remnant snow on a field and all shots dug into one hole at 50 yards. This is going to be a fun little carbine.

Fit and finish were excellent. Polished the feed ramps before installing and haven't had any jam issues. Has fed flawlessly.

    Good Economy Lightweight Barrel

Posted by michael on September 21, 2016

After waiting just a couple of weeks for this barrel to come back in stock, I placed my order. Shipping was quick. I like the lightweight profile, and was willing to pay just a few bucks more for this lighter profile barrel than other companies cheaper HBAR's. It is light! The whole rifle is lighter than my 16" M4 Frankenrifle; so much so that I keep looking in my rifle to make sure my BCG is in there. Gas port is larger than standard, although the feed ramps look standard to me. However, loading about 5 rounds of 7.62x39 in my old 6.5 Grendel mags (have no dedicated mags yet), I have not had ANY feeding or extraction issues. Rifles in this caliber seem to be hit or miss with reliability. Mine is a hit. Accuracy is not the greatest. With a Tru-Glo dot sight and varying weights of Wolf, Tula, and Bear ammo, at 50yds I was averaging about 2-2.5" groups from a supported sitting position. It works for me though. Didn't build it to be a tack driver. Overall I am completely satisfied with KAK and their barrel. Would definitely look at them again if I plan to build any more rifles.

    Looks nice

Posted by nah on August 12, 2016

Just got it in today. Looks great, threads look to be a little on the short side. (around 1/2" when most are 3/4"). Here are specs that were not listed on site: weight: 1.625 lbs. (I was hoping a little lighter profile based on the picture). gas port size: 0.122 (this seems very large. based on the other 7.62 barrels I have that run perfect (.105 mid gas and .070 pistol gas) I am wanting to run it with an adams arms piston though so hopefully it runs well in this configuration.

Sometimes you can get more then you pay for!

Posted by Jeremy on April 19, 2016

Kakindustry made a good choice using Green Mountain blank barrels for they are know for great barrels. Kak did a great job doing the finish work. Accuracy is good and so is the finish. Melonited is the way to go. Tho it makes it harder to dimple the barrel for the gas block. I have it attached to a ASA side charging upper and its been great other then a little tweaking I had to do. I had issues with rounds getting hung up on the feed ramps. I did a lot of research before building a 7.62x39 ar so I was prepared for this in case it happened. I just opened up the feed ramps a little with a dremel tool. Now it feeds great! So KAKindustry if your listening please open up the feed ramp a little more and make these barrels in Mid length gas system. Other then that, carry on!

    Excellent - period

Posted by Walt on April 8, 2016

I didn't expect a "target barrel" when I ordered this barrel, but after I assembled the upper on a "blem" BCM upper I took it out to to sight it in. The first three shots cut a cloverleaf using "white box" Wolf ammo. Since then I've run about 400 rounds through it, including some handloads using .308 bullets. Recovered 308 bullets show very marginal engraving by the .310 barrel, but they are stable and shoot slightly better than import ammo. I've seen no POI shift when the barrel heats. Overall, accuracy is only slightly less than my 300 AAC uppers, probably because of the ammunition I'm using. Believe it, or not, my lot of "white box" Wolf showed an SD of 4 (20 shots, 1.5"@50 yards, Aimpoint Comp2), so any "problem" has to be the bullets themselves. If I could change one thing, I'd have the caliber/twist markings placed toward the muzzle (any handguard covers them where they're placed now).
