This is not a "hard use" BCG
This is considered a consumable part, AR's with dialed in gas and buffer systems will prolong the life of this item
Recommended gas systems- Mid length, Rifle Length, or similar
"How long does it last" The original unit is still being tested everyday in a 12.5" mid length gas upper with high back pressure suppressor, mostly on full auto, no abnormal wear so far.
