The K-SPEC Buffer was developed with specific goals in mind- Reducing felt recoil and providing faster follow up shots.  With modern technology being applied to firearms, you’re likely aware of the recoil management solutions that have been applied to many popular pistol operating systems. Many recoil rods in pistols went from a single piece recoil rod assembly to a dual recoil rod spring assembly with compression guide rod.

With the modernization of firearms, we found out a way to apply this technology to the AR15 Platform.

The K-SPEC Buffer features an innovative recoil reduction system that absorbs and disperses felt recoil. Minimizing muzzle flip and kickback allowing you to fire faster and more accurately by being able to stay on target more effectively.

The K-SPEC Buffer features a two-piece reciprocating buffer body and a custom captured compression spring mechanism internally,  which works in conjunction with our flatwire buffer spring. The majority of the felt recoil is transferred into the buffer spring, and then dispersed into the K-SPEC buffer internals which absorb recoil and distributes recoil more evenly and linearly instead of abruptly as you experience with traditional buffer systems.

Due to manufacturing tolerances, weights can be +/- slightly

These are simply direct replacements for whichever weight you’re using, choose whichever buffer weight you are currently utilizing in your firearm. Your firearm will function the same, you will notice decreased felt recoil with the K-SPEC Buffer. If you are running a lighter buffer such as a 3 oz carbine, simply select the closest weight- example- H1

A5 buffer setup for 2 calibers

Posted by Huey on December 15, 2025

I have a AR-pistol I use in both 5.56 and 9mm. I wanted to be able to run both uppers while swapping minimal parts between the 2 uppers. KAK K-spec PCC buffer and 2.5oz kynshot weight for the 9mm. For 5.56 I use this buffer, both use the same KAK flatwire buffer spring, so it's as simple as swapping the different weight buffers. I did have to switch to a A5 buffer tube but the extra .75" in length compared to a carbine buffer tube was not an issue. Hard to say if it recoils significantly softer than before, but both uppers run great, ejection patterns look good, and I can swap calibers, in less than a few minutes. I run KAK buffer parts with KAK 9mm and 5.56 BCGs and the gun cycles ammo as it should. Very cost effective setups that work.

    AR15 Buffer A5H2 5.6 oz

Definitely works to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb shooting 150 gr 300 blackout rounds in forced reset mode. Shell casing are ejecting perfectly at 3:00 o'clock. Also, don't believe I need to have a muzzle brake device. Cyclic rate is slightly lower when compared to a A5 tubular stock using full length AR15 spring and buffer. The A5 system in FRT mode cycles too fast.

    K-SPEC Enhanced AR15 Buffer A5H2 5.6oz

Posted by Dave Ryder on April 13, 2025

I’ve run a number of buffer setups on my 11.5" SBR over the years, and the K-SPEC Enhanced AR15 Buffer A5H2 is hands down the best I’ve used. At 5.6 oz, it brings noticeable improvements in recoil control, cycling smoothness, and overall reliability—especially when paired with a proper spring and the A5 receiver extension. This buffer tames the sharp impulse common to short-barreled setups, especially suppressed. Ejection pattern is consistent, and the rifle runs clean with no over-gassing or sluggish return. Build quality is solid—tight tolerances, clean machining, and it’s held up to extended range sessions without any issues. If you’re running an SBR or any system where timing is critical, this buffer is absolutely worth the investment. It’s not hype—it performs.

    Excellent buffer. Excellent company.

I now have 3 of these in various builds ( 1 pistol, 2 carbines.) My first order also had their A5 buffer tube/ receiver extension whicj is every bit as nice as any ive seen from Vltor, SOLGW, or Forward cintrols design. The spring noise is virtually nonexistent, bolt bounce is gone, and what were already pleasant shooting guns are now very polite shooters. As to the great company comment. My first order had a different spring that turned out to be the wrong spring, and my second order was supposed to have 2 sets of buffers and springs, however only 1 was in the box. I received my order on a Friday afternoon, called KAK, they apologized, sent the missing items, and I had them in hand that next Monday. The incorrect spring was also replaced promptly. I highly recommend these buffer/ spring combos, the corresponding buffer tube, and doing business with KAK in general has been great.
